

EMERY, Catherine “Kitty” C., 90, of Secaucus, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Kitty was born in Algrange, France on October 16, 1925 to Joseph and Veronika Maurer. Her strong, adventuresome, independent nature was evident from a young age. As a teenager she left home to work as an au pair in Germany. Near the end of World War II she returned to France where she met a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army, W Edgar Emery. The two were wed in 1945, and Kitty immigrated to Ridgewood, NY, USA in 1946. After ten years she moved to Secaucus, NJ where she lived for the next sixty years. Before retiring, she was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Meadowview Psychiatric Hospital in Secaucus. Kitty was a member of the Cosmopolitan Association of War Brides and the Secaucus Golden Age Club. She was a homemaker and excelled at cooking and baking. She was extremely skilled at crocheting and knitting. It gave her much pleasure to make clothing and holiday items for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, especially to France and Las Vegas.
She is survived by two sons, Robert John Emery and his wife Rosanne, Gary Joseph Emery and his wife Ann, a daughter, Lu-Ann Fontana and her husband Victor; nine grandchildren Jeff, Laura, Joelle, Paul, Tom, Victor, Rob, Amanda, and Katie; eight great grandchildren; her loving sister, Irene Schlapp and her children Steve, Jacki, Linda, and Ken, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son William Edgar Emery, Jr. in 1987 and her husband W. Edgar Emery in 1999. She was much loved and will be missed.
