

She dedicated 30 years of her life to teaching English in the Jersey City Public School System, where she inspired and mentored generations of students with compassion, creativity, and unwavering dedication.
Cathy was born in Bayonne, NJ to the late Nicholas and Yasamee Politis a devoted wife to her loving husband, Frankie Spina. She was also a proud and supportive stepmother to Anthony and Frank, and a loving grandmother to Isabela and Joey.
After retiring from teaching, Cathy and Frankie moved to Marco Island, Florida, where she quickly became a vibrant part of the community. She was actively involved with the Moose Lodge and served as a board member at the Villas at Waterside. Her warmth, generosity, and spirit of involvement earned her a wide circle of friends and the deep admiration of many throughout the island.
Cathy’s kindness, sense of humor, and dedication to those she loved will never be forgotten. She touched the lives of so many—through her work, her friendships, and her deep love for family.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church 661 Montgomery Street, Jersey City, NJ on Thursday, April 3rd, from 10 to 11a.m., followed by a Mass at 11am and thence to Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst, NJ.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Cathy's honor to Autism Speaks or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A visitation for Catherine will be held Thursday, April 3rd from 10 to 11AM at Evangelismos Greek Orthodox, 661 Montgomery St, Jersey City, NJ 07306. A Greek Orthodox Prayer Service will follow at 11AM and then to Hillside Cemetery, 742 Rutherford Ave, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071 for her burial.
