Deborah ‘Debbie’ A. Gonzalez passed on May 3, 2026, at the age of 64. Debbie was born to Harry and Barbara Kroll and became a lifelong resident of Secaucus. She was a Teller for many years for Hudson City Savings Bank in Newark, NJ.
Debbie was the loving wife of Derrick Gonzalez; Devoted mother of Gena Gonzalez, Ginger Gonzalez and her husband James Thomas, and Derrick Gonzalez II and his wife Holly; Cherished grandmother of Cassidy Gonzalez, Jason McGinley, Evan Gonzalez, and Ethan Gonzalez; and loving great grandmother of Novalee Perez; she is also survived by many loving extended family members and friends.
Debbie was a woman of inextinguishable fire—a fierce protector of those she loved. For 46 years, that fire was kept bright by the love and unwavering support of her beloved husband, Derrick. Together, they built a life centered on family and service. It was this partnership that allowed Debbie to be so deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, serving for years as a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Den Mother, PTA President, member of St Matthew church council, and a dedicated supporter of the Secaucus Marching Band.
When she wasn't volunteering, Debbie’s artistic spirit took over. Whether she was people-watching at the park, writing, or sketching a quick doodle on a napkin, she saw the world through a unique lens. She seemed to draw strength through the laughter and happiness of those she loved.
Her life was a masterpiece of devotion, creativity, and a nearly half-century bond with the man who stood by her side through it all.
Visitation will be held at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ on Monday May 11th from 4 to 8pm. A Funeral Home Prayer Service will take place on Tuesday May 12th at 10:30am at Mack Memorial Home followed by her Burial at Hillside Cemetery, 742 Rutherford Ave, Lyndhurst, NJ.
