Eduardo Genaro Franco

Eduardo G. Franco, age 88, passed on September 11th, 2026, surrounded by family. Eduardo was born in Ecuador to the late Alfredo & Mercedes (Lozada) Franco and lived there before moving to the Bronx, NY and ultimately settling in Weehawken, NJ around 45 years ago. Eduardo was a Porter for New York Life Insurance in Manhattan NY for over 20 years before retiring in 2002.

He was the loving Husband of over 50 years to Isabel (Garzon) Franco, Cherished father of Isabel Cosme, Gina Vega, Melissa Duran and her husband Dennis, and Edward Franco and his wife Karina; Devoted Grandfather of Damien Rodriguez, Alejandro Cosme, Javier Cosme, Emiliano Vega, Valentina Duran, Emilie Vega, Evan Franco, Kristina Franco, and Emmy Franco; as well as many loving extended family members and friends.

Our father is and was the world to us. Our North Star, “Papi” lifted us up, believed in us,,and inspired us to dream, achieve, and love. It's hard to put into words just who and what Papi was to our family and everyone blessed to call him friend. He was devoted - quietly putting the needs of everyone before his own. His fine intelligence and integrity beaming out in every word and action, our father led with his heart first. His patience is legendary. Nothing was too big or small to bring to him. Gladly giving us all he had, nothing held back. And during these long 13 years battling cancer, our Papi “the boxer” never wavered. Still leading with love, he stayed in the fight for us.

Visitation will be held at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ on Wednesday,September 16, 2026, from 4 to 8pm. where a Funeral Home Prayer Service will be offered at 7:30 pm. His cremation will follow privately.

Eduardo G. Franco, de 88 años, falleció el 11 de septiembre de 2026, rodeado de su familia. Eduardo nació en Ecuador, hijo de los difuntos Alfredo y Mercedes (Lozada) Franco; vivió allí antes de mudarse al Bronx, Nueva York, y finalmente establecerse en Weehawken, Nueva Jersey, hace unos 45 años. Trabajó como conserje para New York Life Insurance en Manhattan, Nueva York, durante más de 20 años antes de jubilarse en 2002.

Fue el amado esposo de Isabel (Garzón) Franco durante más de 50 años; querido padre de Isabel Cosme, Gina Vega, Melissa Durán (y su esposo Dennis) y Edward Franco (y su esposa Karina); y abuelo dedicado de Damien Rodríguez, Alejandro Cosme, Javier Cosme, Emiliano Vega, Valentina Durán, Emilie Vega, Evan Franco, Kristina Franco y Emmy Franco; además de contar con muchos otros familiares y amigos que lo querían profundamente.

Nuestro padre lo es y fue todo para nosotros. Nuestra estrella guía; "Papi" nos impulsaba, creía en nosotros y nos inspiraba a soñar, lograr nuestras metas y amar. Es difícil expresar con palabras quién y qué fue Papi para nuestra familia y para todos aquellos bendecidos con su amistad. Era un hombre entregado que, discretamente, anteponía las necesidades de los demás a las suyas propias. Con una gran inteligencia e integridad que se reflejaban en cada una de sus palabras y acciones, nuestro padre siempre actuaba guiado por el corazón. Su paciencia era legendaria; no había asunto, grande o pequeño, que no pudiéramos compartir con él. Nos daba todo lo que tenía con alegría y sin reservas. Y durante los largos 13 años de lucha contra el cáncer, nuestro Papi —"el boxeador"— nunca se dejo vencer. Siguiendo siempre el camino del amor, se mantuvo firme en la batalla por nosotros.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo en Mack Memorial Home, ubicado en 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, Nueva Jersey, el miércoles 16 de septiembre de 2026, de 4:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m., ofreciéndose un servicio de oración en la misma funeraria a las 7:30 p. m. Posteriormente, se realizará su cremación en privado.
