Born in Jersey City to the late Ernest and Alice (Drude) Johnston, Ernest was a proud veteran of World War II, earning the rank of Second Lieutenant.
Ernest had a long and successful 40 year career as a supervisor at Western Electric in Kearney, New Jersey.
He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed woodworking and created many wooden masterpieces that his family will cherish forever. He loved to travel with his wife, Dorothy, and together they shared many memorable trips to Italy, Spain, Ireland, England, France, Switzerland, and throughout America. He was an avid sports fan and he loved watching and cheering for his beloved NY Giants and NY Yankees. But most of all, he loved his family and his greatest pleasure in life was just spending time with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by his brother, William Johnston, he is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Mulligan) Johnston; daughter Debra and her husband Frederick Sylvester; daughter Diann Johnston and her husband Robert Charles Entwistle; and son Douglas and his wife Rosemarie Johnston.
