It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eufrocina Mercado Abdellatif, who left us peacefully on May 2nd, 2026, at the age of 77. Frocie was known for her gentle nature, her generous heart, and the way she made everyone around her feel cared for.
Born on May 7, 1948, in the Philippines, Frocie was the third oldest of ten children to Eduviges and Pedro Mercado. Being part of such a big family shaped her into someone who naturally cared for everyone around her. She carried that same love throughout her life; always checking in, always offering help, always putting her family first.
After moving to the United States, Frocie worked at Liz Claiborne alongside some of her siblings. It was there that she made wonderful friendships and met her husband, Hamdy.
The center of Frocie’s world was her son, Angelo. He was truly the light of her life and her purpose. She took immense pride in every one of his achievements, celebrating each milestone with a full heart and a radiant smile. Speaking about Angelo brought her pure joy, and her love for him was one of the defining threads of her life.
Frocie had a gift for making people feel special. She gave the most thoughtful gifts, each one chosen with care and love. Her home was a place where memories were made, especially for her nieces and nephews. Her house was filled with laughter, holiday celebrations, and moments the family still holds close.
Though her voice was soft, her strength was unmistakable. She was a steady presence, gentle, dependable, and always ready to help. She looked out for her family with quiet devotion, offering support without hesitation and love without limits. Everyone loved being with Frocie; her warmth made every gathering brighter, and her kindness made every person feel valued.
Frocie is survived by her husband, Hamdy; her beloved son, Angelo; her nine siblings Leonardo Mercado, Zenaida Tabing, Porfirio Mercado, German Mercado, Leonisa Margiasso, Nestor Mercado, Nora Ramirez, Evelyn Narvacan, and Norberto Mercado, and their spouses; as well as her many nieces and nephews who love her deeply. She will be missed more than words can say.
Frocie’s visitation will be from 4-8pm on Thursday, May 14th at Mack Memorial Home (1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ). A funeral mass will be offered on Friday, May 15th at 9:30am at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church (1219 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ).
