James was born in Jersey City, NJ, to Catherine McGauley Arthur and Richard J. Arthur. He is survived by his sister, Nancy A. Arthur. A graduate of Weehawken High School in Weehawken, NJ, James later attended college while pursuing many interests. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed deep-sea fishing, mechanics, riding and working on his motorcycle, collecting coins, and sorting, washing, and folding the household laundry. James fought a long and difficult lifelong battle with schizoaffective disorder.
An entombment service will be held privately with family at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. All donations in James Arthur’s memory can be given to Ways to Help – Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark.
