Joan M. (Delaney) Sturmfels, age 95, passed on September 3, 2026. Joan was born in Jersey City to the late Elmer Delaney and Marie (Cunningham) Delaney and lived in Jersey City until moving here to Secaucus 68 years ago. A resident of Secaucus, Joan was very involved in town, she was a member of the Golden Age Group, The Rosarian Society of Immaculate Conception Church, and the Senior Society.
Joan was the loving wife of 60+ years to the late William J. Sturmfels, she was the beloved mother of Glenn Sturmfels and his wife Karen, Gregg Sturmfels and his wife Anne, and the late Joseph Mazure and his late wife Susan; Devoted Grandmother “Nana” of Kevin and his wife Devon, Kelsie and her partner Michael, Morgan; step grandmother of Heather Arra and her husband Michael, and Rebecca Sica and her husband Blaise; Cherished great grandmother of Carter, Izabella, Roman, & Noah; step great grandmother of Juliet; sister of the late Robert Delaney and his late wife Elenor; Aunt of Timothy and his wife Susanne & the late Ellen Delaney.
A Visitation will be held at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ on Tuesday September 8th from 9 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:45am at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Rd, Secaucus, NJ followed by her burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ.
