A lifelong resident of Secaucus, she was predeceased by her husband and high school sweetheart Jimmy, father Leroy Whitman, mother Wilma nee Eggert, and grandmother Theresa Eggert.
Joy considered herself to be a loner, an independent person, who was friendly, fair, and enjoyed watching cooking and detective shows. She was a lifelong cat lover and often advocated for the welfare of cat strays in town. She worked as a bank teller at The Trust Company of New Jersey, her first and only job, where many Secaucus residents knew her. Joy greatly believed in Saint Anthony, and often reassured friends that her prayers would help their predicament. Joy brought laughter, support, and genuine care into the lives of those around her. Her kindness, loyalty, and bright spirit will never be forgotten.
Joy is survived by family and close friends who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.
A Committal Service will be held at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ on Friday, June 26 at11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, please send all donations to the Secaucus Animal Shelter in Joy’s memory.
