Larry DeCandia

Larry DeCandia, a resident of Mahwah, New Jersey, was born on January 27, 1934, to the late Oronzo and Concetta (Sancilio) DeCandia, and passed away on November 8, 2025, at the age of 91. Larry was born in Molfetta, Italy before coming to America and settling in Hoboken, NJ. He lived in Hoboken for 11 years before getting married and moving to Jersey City and then Secaucus before settling in Mahwah. Larry was a Utility Systems Mechanic for The Port Authority of NJ & NY at Newark Airport and The Holland Tunnel for many years before retiring. He was the beloved husband to his wife Faustina “Tina” (Mercurio) DeCandia; Cherished Father of Larry DeCandia Jr. and his wife Laura, and Connie DeCandia Pook and her husband Gus; Devoted Pop Pop to Melissa Romas and her husband Rob, Michael DeCandia, Taylor Pook, Julia DeCandia, and Amanda Hamm and her husband Brendan; Loving Brother of the late Anna Tattoli, the late Maria Minervini, and the late Frances Tattoli; as well as many loving extended family members and friends.

Larry found great joy in tending to his garden, where he spent countless hours finding creative ways to fight off squirrels, groundhogs and other wildlife to stay away. He loved endlessly his late Maltese, Bacci, who changed his view on pets forever. Larry deeply cherished his 68-year marriage to his wife, Tina. Most of all, he was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and the family he built, his family truly meant everything to him.

A visitation will be held at Mack Memorial Home, located at 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Rd, Secaucus, NJ, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:45 am, followed by his Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ.
