Linda Lusskin, 86, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025. Linda was born in Brooklyn to parents Stella (Levine) Lefcourt and Murray Lefcourt and grew up in Queens. She graduated from Hunter College in Manhattan and considered choosing to attend Hunter College one of the best decisions of her life, as it gave her the opportunity to fall in love with Manhattan and city life.
After dedicating time to raising her two beloved sons, Andrew and Richard, Linda decided to continue her education and earned her Masters of Library Science at William Paterson University. She became a librarian in the Livingston School District. She loved connecting and sharing her love of reading with the students. Linda especially excelled with Middle school students and helped them navigate the difficult period of their lives. Linda was so proud of her career and considered herself incredibly lucky that she found a career she loved so deeply.
While working in Livingston, Linda found her way back to Manhattan and happily made the commute from the city to Livingston for many years. She quickly involved herself in her new community of Greenwich Village and took advantage of all the city has to offer. She loved theatre and museums and took courses at The New School. She was always very friendly with her neighbors and was well known and loved at her local Trader Joe’s and Starbucks, and was the first to offer directions to lost tourists. Linda was a volunteer guide at the High Line when it opened in 2009. She was heavily involved in the feminist movement and protecting historical sites in Greenwich Village. She was so proud of her city and loved sharing it with those she loved.
Linda’s family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her devoted sons, Andrew and Richard, her daughters- in law, Karyn and Lisa, and her grandchildren Nicole and her wife Helena, Amanda, Nicholas, Ava, Luke, and Eric. She also leaves behind her brother Peter and his wife Terri, nephew Lucien and his wife Aiday, great- nephew Sean, and her sister- in- law and lifelong friend Linda and her husband Jay.
Linda’s independent spirit and kindness will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Planned Parenthood, an organization very dear to her that she donated to monthly.
Linda's Funeral Services will be Private.
