On behalf of our family, we want to thank everyone that has reached out and sent their condolences. It has been comforting during this difficult time and a reminder of what an impact she made in people's lives. Abuela was amazing in many ways; vibrant, loving, giving, strong, and beautiful are just a few words to describe her charming personality. There was never any hesitation in her words at any point in time. She expressed herself with her poems, as she would say, “Punto Guajiro,” with her music to go along with her exquisite sonnets.
Luz Maria Sosa was born on May 4th, 1936 in Fomento, La Villas, Cuba. She has two surviving daughters: Migdialia Aguilar and Xiomara Escolero; six surviving grandchildren: Vanessa Borges, Xochitl & David Laborde, Loretta Escolero, Zulay Beltran, Yanliz Beltran, and Genesis Escolero. She also leaves behind six great grandchildren: Ezquiel Pagan, Erika Sanchez, Skylar Acevedo, Tyler Su, Emily Vales, and Robert Vales.
Her memories are vivid and will forever be remembered by all in her family. The way she cared about her family was unsurpassable, she loved to cook for all of us as much as she enjoyed socializing with her friends on the phone and/or on Bergenline Ave. We all know how independent and strong willed she was in every sense of the word. Her voice never failed to give us comfort and the best advice. She was a woman of courage, and it is from her that we have learned to stay strong. Our grandmother was also a woman of gentle smiles and a demonstration of unconditional love. Having her as our grandmother is one of the best things in our lives. We know that she has been reunited with her granddaughter, Xiomara (Kuzy) Escolero in the heavenly world of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The Lord has her in his Glory; she had faith, prayed everyday, and always prayed for her family. She will truly be missed and will be forever in our hearts.
