Mi madre no solo era mi Mamá, she was my best friend and confidant. It’s been only a short time since she left all of us. How did time go so fast?
I sadly remember the days before you passed and that morning, but it is mixed with joy of how our friends and family pulled together to comfort and support each other, just like you taught us.
Everyone tells me our loss never gets easier but will be easier to deal with as time passes. The only thing that brings me peace is that you are not in pain anymore and are reunited in Heaven with our beloved family and friends that have already moved on.
It broke my heart seeing you deteriorate slowly from the cancer. You always fought so hard and tackled every treatment with the bravery of a gladiator.
I can only hope to be the woman you were, treasured Mom, Wife, Daughter, Abuela, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. A true pillar of strength just like you name Maria del Pilar. So many things will be different without you in our future but in our hearts we will feel your presence and guidance.

My Dad said she’s so little, but so powerful. Everything in our home is all her. Her decisions were so precise to make our home pretty and comfy to spend time together and have family around.
Mamá love of family is deep to her core. She took care of all of us, even when she could no longer express herself verbally she would zip my Dad’s sweater and Liu t to his slippers.
Her greatest joy was sharing time with her grandchildren. Elena and Victoria loved when Abuela would ‘taste’ them with kisses to guess what they ate that day. She was so proud to see Elena’s architecture project or hear a new piece victoria played on piano. She was so proud of watching Andrew and Joseph’s sports games... and enjoyed being part of the crowd yelling GOAL with excitement when one of them scored. She always has a huge smile when they shared news of Honor roll and exceptional grades with her.
Her curiosity in learning new things , as she insisted on having a computer tutor to learn new technology. Her excitement in traveling around the world and to her beloved Pompano condo, walking on Boulevard and sitting under a palm tree brought such joy.
Love of creating and observing beautiful things. Amazed at butterfly world in Florida and looking at flowers in awe.
Helping her loved ones because it’s just the right thing to do.

To family and friends she made everyone tríelo feel like family.

Dear Tío Pedro, Gabriela, Silvia and family,

Our deepest condolences, she is loved by so many.

As I knew years ago and still today that I was blessed to have a Super Aunt. A very rare thing.
Happy was I when Pili pick me to be the ring bearer for her wedding. Years later standing up for my wedding.

One of best memories of my Super Aunt was October 31, 1968. Halloween was a very big deal for an 7 year old who had no costume and did not want to dress as a hobo.
When all hope seemed lost but with time to spare my Tía Pili gave me a brand new in the box Casper the friendly ghost costume. No hand me down, just for me. On top of that all I wanted to be was Casper that year, she listened. Best Halloween ever!
She made so many of my early Christmas holidays so special. She knew I liked G.I. Joe toys and that’s what she got me. But the Super part is she would hand make clothes for them. This included socks! Who would do that? Only a Super Aunt. She had a god given talent to make clothes for anyone or anything.
Her generosity and very thoughtful gifts never ended as my Daughter was blessed to have a Super Great Aunt.

How I loved visiting my Tía Pili. Cooking my favorite food plus legendary flan. I will miss you but will never forget you.
With all our love,
Louis, Peggy & Jerí

I am so heartbroken to hear of Pili’s passing. I don’t think I have a single memory of her where she wasn’t showing off that big smile of hers from ear to ear. It was a joy being in her presence. I would like to take a moment to remember María Pilar Gómez and celebrate the life of an amazing woman. She was a caring daughter, a protective sister, a devoted wife, a loving mother of two amazing daughters. And a proud Grandmother to her four wonderful grandchildren which she loved with every ounce of her soul. To others she blessed as an Aun, Cousin and dear friend.

To Pili , we were her family.

I could tell you my own personal stories about Pili, but the truth is she had touched all of us in her own special way, each and every one of of you ha e you have your own stories and cherished memories of her but the common threads we fond in all of them is her endless generosity, willingness to help anyone in need and the love she gave completely and unconditionally.

She was fiercely loyal and protective of those she loved. And though she may have been small in stature , we all know she was a force to be reckoned with. When she set her mind to something there was nothing that would get in her way, especially if it involved her family. Because to Pili “family” was the most important thing and helping those around her was at the core of that.

She never hesitated to help even when it was t asked for. Her selflessness was astonishing. A protective matriarch, who is watching over all of us. Always working to better our lives, which she did. Having Pili in our lives made us all better people.

So on this somber day let us remember what she would have wanted for each of us. She would want each of us to be better, happier, stronger as a family. She wouldn’t want us to be taken over by sadness or grief. Let’s remember all the good she has done and love she shared with us.

I’m certain she is watching down on us now and she would gladly give each of us a piece of her enormous heart to help us fill the Home we feel in ours today.

And for that I love her. We will never forget all you have given us. Maria del Pilar, we all love you .
