Born in Jersey City to the late Thomas and Beatrice (Lenahan) Kiernan, he was a math teacher for the Jersey City Board of Education and a veteran of the United States Army.
Predeceased by his brother, Robert Kiernan, he is survived by his sister, Kathleen and her husband Robert Kromer, nephews Michael, Brian, and David Kiernan, and a niece Mary Ellen Biedynski.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne’s Church in Jersey City. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.
