To all the Sheridan family ... sending hugs and love from a cousin who loved your Mom and my Aunt dearly. I know she is missed by everyone who knew and loved her. May peace be with you all.

Been thinking about my Godmother, Aunt and dear Friend ... wish we had spent more time together. I am truly blessed to have shared life with you. You were one strong woman ... and that strength lives on in your daughters, my sister and me. Love you Aunt Virginia!

Just received the news that my Aunt, Godmother and one incredible woman passed away recently. She had an incredible life, shared so many stories of long ago and was one of the strongest women in my life. Her memory lives on in our hearts and we send condolences and love to her entire family. It is with a heavy heart that we offer our condolences to the family on the loss of your dear mother.   I will always remember her smiling face and warm personality.   God bless her as she lived a full life and is now free and in eternal peace.  

Whenever I spoke about my mother-in-law, I made it a point of saying what a sweet, kind, wonderful person she was and how lucky I was.  I will miss her conversations.  I will miss her smile and jokes.  I will miss hearing her sing the Hoboken song and talk about her life growing up in Hoboken.  You never knew what funny things she'd say.  She would say off color remarks and embarrass Joe and Mark.  She told Kaitlin she would be a good swimmer because of her big feet.  When she watched Kaitlin, Joe and Mark for a week, she had baked goods when they came home from school  every day.  Not only did she spoil her grandchildren, but she disciplined them too.  Joe and Virginia shared a birthday. Once, she  told Joe she would buy him a sailboat for his birthday and then asked when his birthday was and he said "Nanny, it's the same as yours!"  We all had a good laugh! The sweetest thing she ever said to me was that I was like a daughter to her.  I will cherish all the memories and will miss her immensely.  

Heaven gained a true angel. My beautiful, sweetheart of a grandmother will always be present in all of our lives. Nanny had special relationships with each of her 12 grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than being with her family. She had a way of making you feel like you were the only person in the room when she looked at you. There are certain things that will always remind me of Nanny: Belgian cookies at Christmas time, her clapping and singing Belgian songs, playing Uno, the song "Under the Boardwalk," jelly rings, Judge Judy, and pink lipstick! I loved listening to her tell stories about my Dad and his siblings and how bad they were growing up! My favorite memory of her is when I was a little kid. She sang me this song, "Ka-Ka-Katie, my beautiful Katie, your the one the only one that I adore and when the moon shines over the mountains, I'll be waiting at the kitchen door for you!" Until I see you in Heaven, I love you and miss you. I'm so glad that you can be with your mother now. <3


Virginia's passing is sad for her family, friends and care givers. Her longevity is noteworthy, but we would be remiss to only focus on the physical and mental deficiencies of recent years. Virginia is a beautiful example for us to nourish love and to persevere through the hardships of life. Her family always came first and she has left behind many happy memories to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her smile was infectious and she worked hard to ensure that holidays and large family gatherings were joy filled. Continually aware of life's difficulties, Virginia nevertheless would sit and listen and then usually give sound advice. The Lord blessed her with an enormous amount of patience. Everyone has stories about their mother-in-laws most not so nice but I hit the jackpot when I got mine. She had taught my children and me so much. She has taught all the grandchildren how to swim and dive  how to play cards uno was I think everyone’s favorite and the stories about her children growing up were endless and something we all loved listening to. Trying to make her famous Belgium cookies a family secret that I had the honor of being included in. She was such a special woman God seen fit to loan her to us for 99 years she will be missed by everyone that knew her Love you and miss you already

It's the little things that stand out the most; the rolled-up Kleenexes that were never too far, the deck of cards that sat near the couch, or the chocolate that never seemed to run out.  To know my grandmother, Nanny, was an example of strength, kindness, and wit all wrapped into one. 
My favorite memories will always be listening to her stories about raising her kids, especially my dad, and her sharing the details that he probably wished we didn't know. By four years old, Nanny taught me to play solitaire and poker, what to bid on Price is Right, and some legal tips from Judge Judy.  
I'm sure everyone that crossed her path has memories much like mine. So many things will not be the same, but I'm blessed to have been her granddaughter and learned how to endure tough times with such strength and grace and that humor is the best medicine. 

In memory of my dear Aunt Virginia—she was one of a kind and so loved.  Full of happiness and laughter….a wonderful aunt and woman. 

Such a wonderful woman—my favorite aunt.  She was always so loving when we visited and her home was filled with children, dogs, neighbors, good food and lots of laughter.  Her brother Bill (my Dad) just loved her so much and told such great stories about their childhood in Hoboken.  Much love to all the family and my sincerest condolences.
