Betty Voss, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away January 15, 2023 at the age of 89. Betty was born on July 20, 1933 to the late Fred and Juanita McGinnis. She is the mother of the late Victor Voss, and is survived by son, Phil (Edra) Voss. She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Gene Voss, and siblings Ruby, Wynema, Helen, Maxene, Jewell, and Alene. She is also survived by her grandchildren Phillip (Leslie) Voss, Alyssa (Hutch) Hibbard, Noland (Lacy) Voss; great grandchildren Tanner, Riley, Taitlyn, and Jaxson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty had many talents, especially in the kitchen. She was an amazing cook with her specialties being a country breakfast, golden fried shrimp, and that perfect chocolate pie. One of her favorite things to do was to sit on her old wooden tree swing under those beautiful trees. When she was not cooking meals or sitting on her swing, you could find her spending time with her sister Ruby, or working in the yard. She was certainly a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Gene and Betty have been through nearly every stage of life together – and now death. Their romantic love story ended this week when they died just hours apart. Few are lucky enough to experience the love that Gene and Betty shared for so many years.
She will be greatly missed by so many people, from all over.
A special thank you to the Shawnee Care Center and Heartland Hospice for all they did.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Phillip (Leslie) Voss, Alyssa (Hutch) Hibbard, Noland (Lacy) Voss; great grandchildren Tanner, Riley, Taitlyn, and Jaxson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eugene (Gene, Grandpa, Grandpa Gene) had many talents. He was a phenomenal knife maker having made many knives over the years, and was always excited to pass them down to his grandchildren, and was known by family and friends for his ability to fix anything. He devoted his free time to smoking a delicious rack of ribs slathered in his signature homemade barbeque sauce, gardening, spending time at lake Eufaula, and loving his huge family.
After retirement from Tinker Airforce Base, he worked as a hotshot driver delivering trailers all over the country. He loved to tell stories about his travels and his ability to remember every highway, city and town, and the exact miles travelled on the highway was incredible. He took pride in being able to take his grandson, Noland, on “runs” with him. Together, they solved a lot of the world’s problems from the cab of the truck.
Aside from his family, Gene’s greatest devotion was to the military. Gene faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Having enlisted in 1947 and departing in 1949 at the rank of Private First Class. He loved to tell stories from his time in the military, and loved his country.
He will be greatly missed by so many people, from all over.
