Billy James Blackwell Jr.

Billy James Blackwell Jr. passed from this life on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Billy was born October 8, 1952 in Fort Worth, TX to Billy James Sr. and Peggye Ann (Dover) Blackwell. He received his associate’s degree from Murray State College in 1972 and his bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1975.

In high school he played baseball and football. At Murray State College he played baseball as well.

Billy worked in the oil and gas industry as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or a “Mud Man”. His career spanned over 43 years in the industry as a mud engineer. He spent 30 of those years with the same company of Magcobar/M-I.

Billy married Elizabeth Waugh on October 26, 1985 in McAlester, OK. His proudest moment was the birth of his daughter, Katie.

Billy’s favorite hobbies were bass fishing and elk hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents Billy James Sr. and Peggye Ann (Dover) Blackwell.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth J. Blackwell; daughter Katie Blackwell; brothers Scott Blackwell and wife Pam of Tulsa, OK, Barry Blackwell and wife JoAnn of Cincinnati, OH, Steve Blackwell of Little Rock, AR; sisters Shelley Gilbert and husband Greg of Shawnee, OK, Shawna Moore and husband Monte of Winchester, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
