Charles Henneha Sr. of Seminole, OK passed away Saturday evening September 12, 2020 at the age of 85 years old. After several months of declining health, he passed away in the comfort of his home with his wife Darlene Henneha by his side. Charles “Chuck” Henneha Sr. (Yami) was born in Seminole, OK to Harry Henneha and Mary King Haney. Chuck was a full-blood Muscogee Creek Nation citizen. He was the oldest of 8 children, 6 sisters and 1 brother. Betty Boatman, Leonard Henneha, Madeline Amos, Elsie Martin, Pat Johnson, Wanda Beaver, Ernestine Henneha, and Valeria Littlecreek. Chuck was raised by his Uncle Otis B. Harjo and Nelsey B. Harjo in Seminole, OK after his parents passed away. He attended Shawnee Grade schools and Strother schools in Seminole, OK. In 1954, Chuck joined the US Navy. During his time in the Navy, he was a Golden Gloves boxer. After being Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1963, he attended and graduated from Seminole Jr. College in 1977. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Harry Henneha and Mary King Haney, sisters Elsie (Obie) Martin, Betty Boatman, Madeline Amos and brother Leonard Henneha Sr., infant son, Ronald Henneha, and his former wife, Shirley Ann Coker Henneha, the mother of his surviving children, Charles Henneha Jr. and spouse Sharon Tiger Henneha of Coweta, OK, Laura Henneha Ahhaitty and spouse Randy Ahhaitty of Wewoka, OK, and Barbara Henneha Harjo and spouse Christopher Harjo, Sr. of Holdenville, OK. Chuck is survived by his Spouse, Darlene Stewart Henneha of Seminole, OK, and step-children Marci Buckley, Traci Walker, Roberta Walker, and Lance Walker. Chuck is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandkids, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Chuck was an athlete his whole life. He was an avid fastpitch softball pitcher, bowler and boxer. After his playing days, he continued to work out and lift weights. Chuck enjoyed coaching his women and daughters’ softball teams, he loved working on cars, and playing his guitar and painting. Chuck’s favorite Tv show was The Price is Right, he enjoyed watching western movies especially if they included John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, RC soda was his favorite drink, he always requested his son-in-law Randy to make him frybread, and win or lose he loved his OU Sooner Football. Chuck was baptized on March 8, 2009 by Pastor Bill Barnett and was an active member of the Indian Nations Baptist Church in Seminole, OK where he became a Deacon on May 19, 2013 until his death.
