Darlene Lee

Darlene Jane (Herron) Lee, age 84, of Edmond, peacefully passed away Tuesday morning, September 2, 2025, at her residence in Edmond. She was born on January 4, 1941, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Walter and Evelyn Herron. She lived most of her life in California and Oklahoma.

Darlene married the late L.B. Lee, Sr, in 1960 and three sons were born from this union. She lived in Southern California where she raised her family. She worked a variety of jobs in retail, a Christian bookstore, and childcare. After moving to Oklahoma, she eventually became a ward clerk at the VA Hospital. She loved serving the Lord by working in the church and helping others. She worked with the prison ministries for many years until her health prevented her. Darlene retired from the VA Hospital.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, L.B. Lee, Sr; brother, Norman Herron; sister-in-law, Marilyn Herron; granddaughter, Michaela Johnson.

She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church of Oklahoma City. She was also a long-time member of Seventh Day Baptist Churches. The main point is, she loved Jesus and trusted in Him. She enjoyed shopping (especially garage sales), dancing, cooking and hosting parties. Later in life, she enjoyed going on cruises, playing “Ticket-to-Ride” and laughing with family. She was most happy spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Darlene is survived by three sons, two stepsons and four daughters-in-law: L.B. Lee, Jr (Laura), Danny Lee (Danita), Timothy Lee (Rebecca), Michael Johnson (Erika) and Dale Johnson.

Her grandchildren and their spouses: Danielle Butler (Matthew), Joshua Lee (Toni), Kristen Gust (Daniel), Nathaniel Lee, Lauren Berkbuegler, Nicholas Lee (Kaitlyn), Jacob Lee, Luke Lee (Claudia), Jordan Lee, Seth Lee, Jason MacDonald (Alice), Nicholas MacDonald (Colette), Merintha Batty, Chad Johnson and Caitlin Johnson.

Her great grandchildren: Adrik Butler, Aspen Berkbuegler, Kyler Butler, Madison Berkbergler, Ainsley Gust, Loralei Lee, Addelyn Lee, Adilee Butler, Autumn Martel, Kalvary Butler, Lincoln Lee, Maverick Lee, Watson Lee, Montgomery Lee, Samson Lee, Oaklyn Lee, Embric Lee, Rowan MacDonald and Baby Lee on the way.

She also leaves many other family members and friends who will fondly remember her loving heart and beautiful smile.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma with Pastor Marty Brown of HBC officiating. We will walk a short distance to the adjoining Resthaven Cemetery for a brief graveside service.

A visitation for Darlene will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801.
