

Lifelong Shawnee resident, Delbert C. Prather, 76, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 in Oklahoma City. He was born in Shawnee on April 15, 1940 to Ernest C. and Dixie (Stone) Prather. He attended Shawnee schools and graduated in 1958. After high school, he worked at Safeway and later on went to work for the Shawnee Fire Department. Delbert retired in 1995 as a Captain after 25+ years of service. He was also a member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge #107. Delbert was an avid historian, collecting antique photos of Shawnee and the Fire Department. He was a gun collector and enjoyed watching sports, especially Nascar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Randall Prather; sister, Marie Loftis.
He is survived by his daughters, Penny and Dawn; son, Austin; brother, Darrell Prather; sister, Nancy Hunter; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be 11am-5pm Friday, May 27, 2016 and 8am to service time Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
Services will be 2pm Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Resthaven Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Nagle officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
