Dolores Eyvonne Sponseller
October 10, 1935 – April 27, 2021
Dolores Eyvonne Sponseller went to her eternal home on April 27, 2021 in Meeker, OK. She was born October 10, 1935 in Shawnee, OK to Johnnie and Louise Boland (Antlers). She received her high school diploma.
She married Earl Rufus Sponseller on November 25, 1958 in Nevada. With Earl they owned their own business and many rental properties. She worked as the bookkeeper and receptionist of the business. Dolores didn’t believe in idle hands and would be on the go from morning to night enjoying the day. She loved waking up each day to set her agenda and accomplish all her tasks! As she went about her day she sang often with a beautiful voice.
Some of her proudest moments were helping people, her kids, and grandkids. Dolores served her family as a wonderful caretaker for her elderly mother, wheelchair bound husband, sick son, and blessing grandchildren in their areas of need.
Dolores’s hobbies included reading westerns and church related books, loving artwork, doing the genealogy of the family, crafts, and camping. She and Earl could really do the jitterbug dance. They were wonderful dancers. Dolores loved to watch storms pass by with popcorn in hand and sitting on the porch listening to the rain and thunder. She also loved long rides especially when the leaves are changing.
She spent some time as a relief society teacher and as the primary president.
Dolores was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The church gave her strength and it meant everything to her. An important moment for her was when she got baptized and the rest of the family was baptized. They then went to the Temple and was sealed as a family. She loved going to the Temple and doing his work. Last year she served the Temple by working in the Dallas and Oklahoma City Temples.
She is preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Louise Boland, husband Earl Sponseller, son Walter Sponseller, and brother William Boland.
She is survived by her children Glen Sponseller of Dale, OK; Sherri Heatley and husband Henry of Shawnee, OK; Terri Moore of Shawnee, OK; brother Chef Almond of Fair Oaks, CA; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 6 nieces, and 8 nephews.
