Dorothy Shields

Dorothy Louise Shields, 93, of McLoud passed away Tuesday August 17, 2010. She was born to John and Mary Roberts December 26, 1916.In her younger years she was very active quilting, sewing, tending her garden, cooking, and even occasionally catering wedding cakes. She was married to Ray shields on July 24, 1940 in Earlsboro, OK. She was a member of many organizations including the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Appaloosa Association, the Oklahoma Dairy Association, and the Golden Needle Club and loved to train her horses to barrel race. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray Shields; brothers Jack, Ralph, and Mack Roberts; sister Vivian Brown; and her favorite companion “Tiny”. She is survived by three sons Harold, Jack, and Dennis. Two daughters Glenda Pickard and Dee Anna Gray; one sister in law Josephine Roberts, 16 grandchildren, to many great grandchildren to mention, and five great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday from 8am -8 pm with service Saturday August 21, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Resthaven Funeral Chapel and burial following at Dale Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Angelic Hospice of Shawnee.Arrangements under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee, OK.
