G. Finch, Sr died on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. He was born June 14, 1944 in Todd County, Kentucky; but lived in Dover, Tennessee throughout most of his childhood. He joined the Navy in July 1961 at the age of 17 years old and was honorably discharged in April of 1971. He was also a Navy recruiter for 6 years prior to becoming a Shawnee business operator in June of 1978. He opened E&J Auto Center in April of 1980 and sold the business in January of 2002. He had a very strong personality, but was a very compassionate and gentle man. He leaves behind a wife, Judy, of 44 years; a son, Glen Finch and daughter-in-law, Marlene; a daughter, Melissa Finch and 4 grandchildren, Seth, Feather, Elizabeth and Natalia; one cousin, Wendell Smith and wife, Kathy; and one aunt, Lanore E. Smith. His visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2011 from 12 to 8pm with family to receive friends from 5 to 8pm, and his service will be 2pm, Saturday, January 14 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
