

Florence was born in Fairmont, West Virginia to Esta Jane and Francis Nose on August 13, 1925 and left this world October 22, 2016, at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 10 days. She graduated from East Fairmont High at mid-term of her senior year, was educated by the government at a college in North Carolina. She worked in the Pentagon during World War II for the war Department, Ordnance section of the Army. Her job was to keep the European Theater supplied with what was needed for guns, tanks and ammo. She met this Texan, John W. Fife in Washington D.C. while he was on leave before going to Europe. They corresponded during the war and after the war ended they married on August 19, 1945 in Texas. They set up housekeeping in Corpus Christi for the next 35 years. She was a housewife, bookkeeper, typist, and active in Girl Scouts and youth groups. The government called her back to the Pentagon during both the Koran and Vietnam wars to train others in the job she held during WWII. In May of 1980 they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma with Sun Oil Company. They resided 11 years between Tulsa and Cushing. Upon retirement they moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1990. During these years Florence continued to keep busy with different groups that were formed in Washington D. C.: Judicial Watch, the Republican Task Force during the Regan administration, active in the American Legion and other groups that supported the country’s rights and freedoms. She loved this country and felt she needed to continue her love by contacting school friends, family members and friends from the war by having their names placed on the World War II Memorial. She is survived by her daughter, Martha F. Buehring (Harold), Norman, OK three sisters: Virginia Marshall, Georgetown, TX, Helen Wood, Fairmont, W. Va., and, Laura Jean Swindell(James), Suffolk, Va. , one brother Charles Nose (Irene), Patterson, Ga. Three grandchildren: Marla Mendoza, Karnes City, TX, John Bruce (Ashley), Glenpool, Ok, Paula Waller (Jon), Ardmore, OK
Five great grandchildren: Samantha, Mikayla, Justin Mendoza all live in TX, and Meagan and Kimberly Waller in Ardmore, OK and four great-great grandchildren. Many nephews and nieces and their families and school friends are spread all over these states. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and husband. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be 2pm Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marc Marshall, Sam Wood, A.R. Fife, Jr., Robbie Fife, Brett Swindell, Debra Fisher.
