September 7, 1940November 12, 2020

Gay Donna Ott, 80, went to heaven as a Christian on Thursday Nov. 12, 2020, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Mike Hassen and Wahidee (Mahmoud) Hassen of Shawnee, Oklahoma on Sept. 7, 1940.

Gay Ott graduated from Shawnee High school in 1958.

She gave generously to everyone and included everyone she knew. She adopted all of her nieces and nephews and their children as though they were her own children. She was one of the fun Aunts! She taught us how to love, laugh, pray and believe that we have an “angel on our shoulders”. She taught a toddler in the family how to drink Coca Cola from a straw at a very young age. She treated her friends and animals with the same love she had for her family.

She was skilled in arts and crafts-she could knit, sew and crochet. She enjoyed Mickey Mouse watches, butterflies, angels, and the color purple in her art.

She was an excellent chef in Lebanese cuisine and with desserts like her chocolate brownies.

Gay Ott was a businesswoman and homemaker. She worked in restaurants in Shawnee, OK and while living in Reno, NV, she was a lunch room lady and chef at Tony’s Delicatessen. In her later years she assisted in the personal care of her parents. As an adult she assisted her father in the Public Market Auction in his appraisals, auction and real estate work. She started her career as a young child when she helped her parents sell bananas at their grocery store.

She enjoyed traveling in the United States and made an impression during a nationwide horseshoe pitching competition with family to scenic locations such as the Grand Canyon, Indianapolis, IN, Lake Tahoe, CA and Las Vegas, NV. She also enjoyed special trips to Texas, Hawaii, and Germany.

She took a delight in Christmas holidays, giving gifts to her extended family, blessing us with her amazing laugh, putting bicycles together and decorating beautiful trees. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley recordings while we all danced the twist.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Wahidee Hassen, her brother Buddy Hassen, her grandparents Ferris and Yecute Hassen, her Uncle Happy Hassen, Alan Hassen, Mary Nappa, Amy Nappa, Rickey Smith, Kelly Hassen, Laurie Hassen, and George Wilfon.

She also recently lost her favorite dog and companion named Sissy.

Survivors to cherish her memories include her husband, Steven Ott of Shawnee, OK, her sister Zahea Nappa of Austin, TX, her brother Fareed Hassen of Shawnee, OK, and her sister-in-law Ruth Ann Clemens of Shawnee, OK as well as Janette Stinnett, her God-daughter/niece along with all of her blessed nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and friends.

She was a Good Samaritan and Her name is written in the Lambs Book of Life.
