Geneva Lou Brown Watson, 89, went to her home in Glory on July 22, 2021. Geneva was born on December 19, 1931 to Deloss and Clara Brown in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She was the third of five children. She graduated from Pauls Valley High School and received her Bachelors Degree in Art from East Central University then went to the University of Central Oklahoma for her Masters Degree.
Geneva met her husband, Billie Bob Watson, during her senior year of high school and they were married on May 19, 1950, the same night as her senior prom, in Pauls Valley. Together they had 3 children.
Geneva loved her Lord and served him all her life. She was an active member at Temple Baptist Church for years. Geneva was a cook at Falls Creek, taught Sunday school, and served any place there was a need. She was faithful to share her Lord with her children and grandchildren.
Geneva was a retired teacher and school librarian. She taught in many schools over her extended career ending at Shawnee Public Schools. Geneva was an outgoing woman and an active member of the Red Hat Ladies and retired teachers.
Geneva was a wonderful cook and made the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. She loved to bake with her grandchildren and taught them some of her secrets of baking. Geneva Lou loved traveling and had been to all 50 states. She and Bob would go south to Alamo, Texas every fall after their retirement, where they made many friends from all over the US.
She is survived by her children James Watson of Shawnee, Robert Watson (Sheree) of Shawnee, and Barbara deCosier of Shawnee, her grandchildren Michele Hoke, Rodney Graski, Rebekah Bonar (Edward), Laura Schmidt (Brandon), Amanda Clements (Sebastian), great grandchildren Cassandre Graski, JW Hoke, Gage Schmidt, Ryder Schmidt, Everly Schmidt, Abigail Clements, Layton Clements, and her name sake Campbell Lou Clements. She has eight nephews and one niece.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Billie Bob Watson, parents Clara and Deloss, and her siblings Bill Brown, Dee Brown, Janice Bast, and Homer Brown. Knowing her family, we are certain it was quite the celebration at the gates of Heaven!
Family and friends are invited to join the celebration of life gathering at Temple Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK on Tuesday, July 27 at 10am. Visitation will be between 4 and 8pm on Monday evening at Resthaven Funeral Home.
