

James “Bob” H. Godfrey, 82, of Shawnee passed away on October 29, 2010. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 1st, 2010 at the Resthaven Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Bob was born on April 15, 1928 to Clarence and Anna Leola Godfrey in Booneville, Arkansas. He served our great country from the 1945 to 1947. He married Evelyn Johnson on October 2, 1949 in Seminole, Oklahoma. They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. In May of 1950 they moved to Shawnee and have been proud citizens of Shawnee since.
Bob was a Mason and part of the Composite Lodge #107. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base from 1949 – 1981.
Bob was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He always looked forward to seeing them. He was proud of his family and loved them all. He enjoyed early mornings, drinking coffee, and walking in the Shawnee mall with his friends.
He loved driving his truck and singing country music. He was full of life, never met a stranger, and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Bob is survived by his wife, Evelyn of the home; two daughters, Susan Cooper and her husband Jeff of Cabot, Arkansas and Carrie Asbill and her husband Lyle of Grapevine, Texas; one sister, Evelyn Bohanon; six grandchildren, Chris Sehorn and wife Carolyn, Jeff Sehorn, Christian Asbill, Baylee Asbill, Josh Cooper, Kelly Cooper, and one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Joey Don Godfrey and one sister, Aileen Hair.
