Jesse “Jess” Glenn, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on February 18, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. Jess was born on January 26, 1937, in Avoka Township—now known as Asher, Oklahoma—to Elmer Glenn and Athie Alma Dowd. He attended school in Asher through the eighth grade before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Army. After completing his time of enlistment, he began a long and faithful career as a machinist at Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked diligently until his retirement. On May 6, 1966, Jess married the love of his life, Lucy Lee Yott. For 60 years, they built a life rooted in devotion, laughter, hard work, and unwavering love. Together they created a home filled with stories, music, and the steady presence of a man who cherished his family above all else.
Jess loved hunting in Colorado, traveling, playing his guitar, and listening to country music. He found joy in horses and in the beauty of nature. He was a natural storyteller—often laughing as he shared tales from the “good old days.” His laughter was contagious, especially when he was surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He taught those around him by example—how to help others, how to show respect, how to live honestly, and how to truly enjoy life. Jesse will be remembered as a man who cared deeply for those around him, someone who was always ready to lend a hand. His loved ones often said he “never met a stranger,” and that simple phrase captures the kindness and openness that defined him. The things he cherished most were family, traveling, horses, and the outdoors—but more than anything, he treasured the time spent with those he loved. Jess is survived by his beloved wife, Lucy Glenn; his children, Beth Cullen and husband Lance Cullen of Minco, Oklahoma; Jesse Gene Glenn of Oklahoma; and Anita Decker and husband Dan Decker of Harrah, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his sister Donna Holland of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Aubrey Glenn of Sacramento, California; Billy Jo Glenn of Moore, Oklahoma; and Wesley Glenn of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his sister, Audrey Nona of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Amanda Burris, Savannah McCarthy, Christina Griffin, Kristian Decker, and Karsyn Decker, and four great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Batt, Kenleigh Batt, Jasper Griffin, and Zane Griffin, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Jesse “Jess” Glenn leaves behind a legacy of laughter, integrity, kindness, and devotion to family. His stories will continue to be told, his lessons will continue to guide, and his love will continue to live on in all who knew him. No services are scheduled at this time.
