Kenneth Wayne Boyd

Kenneth Wayne Boyd, 84, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2025. He was born November 13, 1940, in Taft, California, to Garner Fraser Boyd and Alice “Loree” (McMillan) Boyd and was the oldest of 5 siblings

In January 1971, he married Elizabeth “Jane” Rippetoe in Covina, California. They lived in Oakview, CA, until moving to Shawnee in 1977.

Ken lived a full and wonderful life with his best friend and wife, Jane. Together they shared countless adventures-coaching Shawnee Little League baseball, bowling in local leagues, and traveling to watch Sheb play college baseball.

In 1977, Ken and Jane founded Ken’s Carpet Service, installing flooring in hundreds of homes and businesses in and around Shawnee. Later, their son Sheb joined them in the business, where they worked side by side until Ken’s retirement in 2010. Ken took great pride in his craftsmanship and treasured the many friendships he formed through his work. Outside of business, Ken enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, and the loyal company of his dog, Finley.

Ken is survived by his son, Sheb Boyd and partner, Jenea of Shawnee; stepsons Woody Rippetoe of Holdenville and Jesse Rippetoe and wife Roberta of McAlester; stepdaughters Carmen Kennedy and husband Kenny of Oakview, CA, and Mikki Fletchall of Weatherford; grandchildren Hunter Boyd, Kaitlynne Heilaman, Crystal Fischer, Charley Rippetoe and wife Brandi, JC Rippetoe, Tressa Kennedy, Beau Burton and wife Kelsey, Kara Davis, Laura Vogt and husband Tyler, and Leah Maples and husband Wes; brothers Dennis Boyd and wife Lin, and Jimmie Boyd; niece Sue Crager; as well as many great-grandchildren, friends, and his beloved dog, Finley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; his parents, Garner and Loree Boyd; brother Gerald Boyd, granddaughter Brandi Elaine Rippetoe; and grandson Michael Kennedy.

Ken will be remembered for his hard work, love of family, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. His legacy continues in the hearts of all who knew and loved

A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 13th at 11:00 am at Freedom Assembly of God church located at 45407 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A reception will follow at the Boyd's home at 1821 N Bryan Ave, shawnee, OK 74804.
