Lucie Katherine (Rinkel) McDonald, blessed us with her presence for 100 years. She passed on November 28th, 2011 in Midwest City with family by her side. Lucie was born in Haviland, KS on July 5th, 1911 to Theobald and Lucie Rinkel. She attended Victory School, a one room schoolhouse in Kansas, where she later returned to teach. She also taught at a school in Garden City, KS. Lucie was well loved by her students and influenced many young lives throughout her teaching career. Lucie was famous for her crocheted afghans, baby blankets and quilts.
Lucie was very proud of her family and some of her proudest moments came from being a grandmother and great grandmother.
She attended Family of Faith Church, and was a past member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Lucie was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Paul William McDonald Sr, as well as parents, brothers and a sister, step-son, and step-daughter.
Surviving to honor her memory is her daughter Lucie Helseth of Shawnee, as well as six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
