

She was born on September 11, 1919 in Stonewall, Oklahoma to W. E. and Callie Painter. She married Alvah Lloyd Smith, August 1, 1938.
They opened S&S Auto Salvage in 1949, which is still in operation.
Upon retirement, Bernice and Al began traveling, dancing and spending time with their family and friends at the lake.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and son-in-law Jim Spurr. The last sister, Charlotte Terry (Kitten) died December 2013.
She is survived by her husband of 76 years Al Smith, daughter Virginia and Don Dyer; daughter Aline Smith; son Ted and his wife Rhonda; granddaughter Melanie and her husband Karl and son Eli Hicks; grandson Jason and his wife Jessica and children Vin and Izzy; grandson Paul Smith and his wife Jill and their sons Tanner and Grady; grandson Kenneth Smith and his wife Allison and son Sidney; and grandson Tommy Smith as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 am at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, September 27, 2014.
