Lifelong Shawnee resident, Nellie Louise Parman, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 in Shawnee. She was born in Shawnee to Otto Lemuel and Annie (Gossett) Gazaway. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1946. On August 14, 1946, Nellie married her high school sweetheart, John Parman. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for 17 years. Following her retirement, she focused on her art. She did paintings with oils and pastels and she taught art classes. Nellie was an avid Bridge player, enjoying life-long friendships and fellowship. She was also a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Nellie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Parman; daughter, Cynthia Capps; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Irene and B.C. Richardson; brother, Otto Wayne Gazaway.
She is survived by her daughter, Jona Parman; son, Roger Parman; granddaughter, Kimberley Diamond and husband Matt; great grandchildren, Kara, Jack, and Ainsley Diamond; son-in-law, Rusty Capps; niece, Melissa Richardson; nephew, Steve Richardson; as well as numerous dear friends.
Graveside services will be 1pm, Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Pastor Ben Williams officiating.
Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
