Ida Juanita Wilkins, born September 29, 1921, has passed with her family by her side on April 17, 2019. Nita, as she is known to her friends and family, was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Floyd and Loma Hankins Mulanax. She was the youngest of their three children, having an older sister, Claudia Vivian Mulanax Kennedy, and her beloved older brother, Harold Dean Mulanax. She was especially fond of Claudia's daughter, Donna Kaye Lyons, who spent many hours at her side in the last month.During the last few months , Landa, Jim, Connie, Kevin and Shelby made sure she was never alone.
Nita was fortunate to have three children, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren 5 step grandchildren and their families,they were the light of her life. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Shawnee and she loved reading her bible. Once recognized as "the oldest" member of their congregation, little did they know that she would have many more years ahead before she was called home. Nita loved to play chicken foot at Saint John Lutheran Church, and especially enjoyed visiting with friends and keeping the score she was good with numbers and took some teasing because she often won. She had an infectious laugh and was prone to the giggles. Nita loved earrings that dangled and was always impeccably dressed. She enjoyed sewing and made some beautiful outfits for family and friends throughout her lifetime.
Nita will be remembered as a great mother,mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She touched the lives of many people, always making them feel important. Her home was always open and was a favorite Halloween hangout for the grandkids; she made sure there was plenty of chocolate. She would take your call at any time with loving support. She was a great baker and loved making angel food cakes, seven-up cakes, hello dollies, and her award-winning chocolate chip cookies. Although she never sought the spotlight, and was happy to just be a part of the fun, she was never a woman who went unnoticed. Her kindness and smile were two things you could count on, and she always left you feeling better having seen or talked with her. Nita is preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother; her husband, James Henry Wilkins; and her son Larry Husted. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Glenn and Landa Davis; her son and daughter-in-law Jim Wilkins and Connie Mathews; her grandchildren and their spouses: Ryan and Whitney Davis, Lesley Davis Brooks, Drew Davis, Curt and Mary Wilkins, Steven Kyle and Brittany Wilkins, Kevin Wilkins, Chad and Sarah Mathews, and Kevin and Jennifer Mathews and her great-grandchildren: Dylan, Kellen, Allie, Vivian, Curtis, Cheyenne, Aubree, Jon, Jason, Aydan, Jaxson, Fox, Kaitlyn, Hunter and Blake.
