

Norma "Helen" Knight Cooper passed away April 7, 2011 at Golden Rule Home in Shawnee, Okla. Helen was born in Omaha, Nebraska on March 14, 1914, daughter of Walter F. Knight and Norma Hicks Knight. Helen spent her formative years in Shawnee graduating from Shawnee High in 1931. She also attended OBU. Helen married D. H. "Spike" Cooper on May 5, 1935. They were married 62 years at the time of his death in August, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Knight Shoop and grandson Jerry D. Wickware. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Ann Griffin of Frost, Texas and Norma James of Midland, Texas; sister, Estella Morrison of Excelsior Springs, MO; niece, Evelyn Kinkade of Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Wickware of Springfield, MO, Helen Miller of Minneapolis, MN, Steve James of Midland, TX, Joe James of Allen, TX and 14 great grandchildren. Helen was a very active member of the Methodist Church, an avid bridge player and garden club member as well as a life member of Eastern Star. She was always involved in her daughter's activities from Girl Scouts, band and sports. Helen's working career included working for the city of Lindsay, State of Oklahoma and she retired after serving as the Garvin County Treasurer for several years. After retirement she became a devoted student of the Bible. Her visitation will be 8am to 12pm, Monday, April 11, 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 11, 2011 under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
