Sr. on January 13, 1980 in Oklahoma City. Rudy passed from this life on August 15, 2024 in
OKC surrounded by family and loved ones.
Rudy grew up in the New Lima area where he played basketball and baseball. He attended
Justice grade school through eighth grade and ended high school at New Lima.
As a child Rudy was ornery, full of life and love, and didn’t meet a stranger. He carried this same
personality all throughout his life even up until the end. In his free time Rudy enjoyed fishing,
golfing, watching sports, and was a movie and music buff. He loved all of his siblings fiercely
and took the role of big brother seriously.
Rudy was a die-hard OSU fan, and you could find him every game day in his autographed Barry
Sanders jersey in front of the t.v. yelling and cheering. He loved to call his family and get them
riled up about the games saying “pistols firing!” especially to his sister Brittney who he knew
was an OU fan.
Rudy always had a passion for serving his community through security and safety and actually
met his wife Robyn working as a security officer at the Grand Casino in Shawnee, OK. From
there, they moved to Arkansas where he spent nearly a decade serving the people of Benton
County in the Sheriff’s department as a deputy.
About three years ago, Rudy and Robyn moved back to Shawnee where he worked at the
Pottawatomie County Safety Center and then recently at the animal shelter for the City of
Shawnee. Rudy’s job at the animal shelter brought him great joy, pride, and even a rescue pup,
Gerdy, who he loved dearly.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Robyn McElroy (Blochowiak) and her children Harrison Brown and
Kathryn Bass; grandchildren Kyndall, Easton, and Keaton; his mother, Tambra and her
husband, Shaun Walker; father, Randall Lee McElroy Sr.; brother, Jason McElroy and his wife
Makenzie; brother, Bradley LaChappell and his wife Emma; sister, Brittney Chouteau and her
husband Billy; brother, Lewis Green, and brother Jason Brown; along with several cherished
aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rudy was preceded in death by his Grandma and Grandpa McElroy, Grandma and Grandpa
Creed, and his Grandma and Grandpa Yousey.
Because Rudy had such a love for his job, in lieu of plants and flowers, the family has asked for
goods donations (no monetary donations please) to be dropped off at the Shawnee Animal
Shelter.
