Richard Nowlin

Richard Mace Nowlin was received into the presence of His Lord January 11, 2016. He was born in Shawnee, OK to Macy L. Nowlin and Dorine Sandifer Nowlin. At two years of age he had polio, which impaired his right side. While staying at Crippled Childrens Hospital in OKC for 2 years (7—9 years of age) he had experimental surgery to regain motion to his right arm. As a teenager, he attended First Baptist Church, Shawnee, OK and was baptized at the age of 14. He was again baptized in the Jordan River in Israel at the age of 78. During his latter years he attended Immanual Baptist Church where he appreciated/enjoyed Manoi Adair’s S.S. class.. Richard was an insurance agent for Homesteaders Life Insurance Co. and retired in 1984. He was a Gideon for over 30 years and did prison ministry for part of that time. He enjoyed fishing and working on his rental properties.

In 1988, he married Shirley Linn Goolsbay. He was preceded in death by his parents, adopted son Robert James Nowlin, brother Ronald Nowlin. He is survived by his wife Shirley Linn Nowlin of the home, daughter Rebecca Diane Nowlin, Shawnee, OK, adopted son James Lee Nowlin, brother Jack Nowlin, Shawnee, OK and 4 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Thursday January 13, 2016 at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, OK with Pastor Mike Goolsbay officiating. Special thanks for Cura Hospice employees for all the special care Richard received prior to his departure.
