

Ronald Newton Carnes was born October 26, 1947 in Lamar, Oklahoma to Melvin Carnes and Melba (Bridges) Carnes-Bryan. Ron entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Ron is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Carnes. Ronald is survived by his mother, Melba Carnes-Bryan; two sons, Randall Carnes, and Brian Carnes; and one daughter, Sharon Cooke and her husband Mathew Cooke; one granddaughter, Cydaria Cooke; and one soon to be born grandson. He is also survived by two siblings: Gary Carnes and wife Jo Anne Carnes and their children and grandchildren, and Debbie Smith and husband Scott Smith and their children and grandchildren; and countless other loved ones.
Ron was a dedicated family man who took pride in everything he did. He appreciated fishing, shooting, and all aspects of nature. Ron was a true craftsman, and enjoyed fixing and creating things with his own hands. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the military he excelled in aviation mechanics. Ron left behind numerous friends from his years working at Shawnee Mill, Wolverine Tube Company, and Sygma.
A graveside service will be held in Ron’s honor on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at 2:00PM at Resthaven Memorial Park Pavilion. Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
