He was born August 6, 1930 in Hazel, Oklahoma to Mattie and Calvin Campbell. He attended grade school in Hazel, Oklahoma and High School in Exeter, California. He married Audry Ruth Davison on December 1, 1951. He entered the United States Army on September 28, 1948 and was honorably discharged on September 26, 1953. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart with 1Oak Leaf Cluster, Korean Service Medal with 6 bronze service stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and United Nations Service Medal. Mr. Campbell was a butcher at Sanitary Grocery and Market for nine years, Humpty Dumpty for 23 years and Food World for 3 years, retiring in 1988. Mr. Campbell has been a resident of Shawnee since 1953. He was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law; Gary and Debra Campbell, Choctaw, OK, Billy and Debbie Campbell, Shawnee, OK, Roger and Kenna Campbell, Bethel Acres, OK and Terry and Teresa Campbell, Choctaw, OK; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.
