Shirley Iiams

She was born in Millbury, Ohio, in 1938 to Evelyn (Brandburg) Gast, and Raymond Young. Shirley retired from a job she loved as a Transcriptionist at the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Tucson, Arizona.

Shirley is survived by children Robert (Jane) Weiker, Peggy (Doug) Lessig, Randy (Angie) Weiker, and Sharon Weiker, and grandchildren, Andrea Chandler, Michael Horvath, Nicole Weiker, Rodney Weiker, Christopher Rice, Mandy Rice, Angela Weiker, Robert Weiker, Ryan Weiker, Robbie Abalos, Beck Brandi Abalos, and Alec Iiams, as well as 24 great-grand children. She is also survived by her brothers Richard Gast and James Young. She is preceded in death by her daughter Janine Horvath, her brother Robert Young, and grandson Kaiser Iiams.

Shirley touched so many people’s lives in her family and through her friendships, including the many children she cared for through the foster care system and through her own daycare. Each of those kids had a special place in her heart.

Shirley loved to crochet and many special people received one (or more!) of her blankets. She also loved to fish, bake cookies and make delicious pies!
