Stephen Franklin Hurt

December 4, 1954 - July 18, 2025

Stephen “Steve” Franklin Hurt was born on December 4, 1954 to Clyde and Betty Hurt in Henryetta, OK. He passed away at his home on July 18, 2025 in Tecumseh, OK surrounded by his family.

Steve grew up in Henryetta, OK until the age of fourteen then moved out west to Firebaugh, CA in 1969. He would go on to graduate from Dos Palos High School in 1973 where he lettered in football, track, and wrestling. After high school, Steve held various working positions, such as grounds/maintenance supervisor, screen printer, and teacher. He coached high school football for nearly thirty years total between both Firebaugh and Tranquillity high schools. He also coached high school basketball for several years in Firebaugh. Steve had numerous hobbies throughout his life, which included playing guitar, lifting weights, watching westerns, fishing, carpentry, driving his tractor, and attending his children’s sporting events. He was also a world champion arm wrestler for nearly 25 years. Steve married the love of his life, Kellie, in 1987. They resided in Firebaugh, CA together for 33 years before moving to and settling in Tecumseh, OK in 2021. He was a loving father to five children, Jason, Travis, Stephen, Ashley, and Ricky. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Betty. He is survived by his wife, Kellie, of 38 years; his four sons, Jason, Travis, Stephen, and Ricky, and one daughter, Ashley; his grandchildren, Chris, Ashton, Peyton, Stephen, and Georgia. He also leaves behind a loving sister, Julie Calvert, and brother, Matt Hurt, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be held Monday, July 28, 2025 at 11AM at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Shawnee, OK located at 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. Remembrances may be made to the American Liver Foundation and/or American Cancer Society in Steve’s honor.
