Thelma Jewel Franklin

Thelma Jewel (Passons) Franklin was born on September 30, 1921 in Shawnee, OK to William and Bertha (Bratcher) Passons. She spent most of her early years living in the Macomb area and graduated from Macomb high school in 1939 where she was the senior class valedictorian. During WWII, Thelma moved to California and remained there until her retirement in 1971. She worked for several large supermarkets in the San Jose/Bay area as a retail clerk. Upon her retirement, she moved back to Shawnee to take care of her Mother. Thelma was a member of the Central Church of Christ. She and her very good friend, Kathryn Shields, spent many years visiting the sick and elderly members of her church on a weekly basis. Thelma was an avid OU and OSU football and basketball fan. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents: William & Bertha Passon, 3 brothers: Boyd, Richard, & D.O. Passons, 2 sisters: Lola Brown & Loyce Kerr, and 1 son: Ronald Franklin. Survivers include 5 nieces: LaTrelle Davis of Konowa, Terry Conley of Fresno, CA, Zona Quick of Morrison, Johnna Hasenfratz of Stillwater, Diane Moore of Tecumseh, several cousins, and her dear friend, Kathryn Shields of Shawnee.
