Vernon O.C. Jones

Vernon O.C. Jones went to be with his Lord on June 16, 2011. Vernon was born to Vernal Ocie (Bridge) Jones and Fate Jessie Lafayette Jones on May 28, 1920, in Chandler, Oklahoma. Much of his childhood was spent with his grandparents Frank and Mary Belle Jones as his mother died at his birth. He was married to Zola Margaret Jones. He attended Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and served in the Army National Guard from 1937-1939. Vernon worked in the Dairy business for 38 ½ years, working with Steffens and then for Gilt Edge Farms. Vernon was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and then United Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his daughter Mary Ann Jones and good friend Tilda Wakolee and his extended family: Roger Allen, Rufus Allen, Retha Allen, Robert Wakolee; “grandkids” Myrna Trubey, Noah Allen, Christy Allen, Jarred Allen, Christy Kinslow, Joe Kinslow, Chantel Watterson, Levi Wakolee; and “great grandkids” Cody Allen, Tyler Armitage, Hannah Lee, John Pierce Trubey, Daniel Trubey and Payten Watterson. He is preceded in death by his son, Max Wayne Jones and his parents. His visitation will be Sunday, June 19th from 1 to 6pm and Monday, June 20th from 8 to 12pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. His service will be held at 1pm, on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Scrutchins officiating. He will be buried at New Zion Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma.
