

Funeral services for Viola Marie Carter, 82, of Tecumseh will be 10 am Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Witten officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.
Visitation and viewing will be 3- 5 pm on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carter passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at her home.
She was born January 11, 1931, to Alfred and Grace (Lewis) Ross in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She attended and graduated from Shawnee schools. She married Jack Troy Carter on August 24, 1950 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Mrs. Carter was an excellent cook and loved cooking. She was well-known for her yeast rolls and her family would fight over who would get the last one. She loved working with children and was very involved in childrens’ ministries through her church. She was a member of Romulus Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Jack Troy Carter, Jr.; one son-in-law: Paul Nash; one great grandchild: Brittney Meisner; two sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; two daughters: Cynthia Marcella Kosel and her husband James of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Sharita Alane Nash of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter-in-law: Jane Carter of Tecumseh; five grandchildren: Brandon Carter, Gaydonne Nusz, Tasha Zumwalt, Wayland Nash, and Savannah Nash; five great grandchildren: James Bond, Jesse Bond, CJ Zumwalt, Ricki Lynn Carter and Jayla Nail.
