I was heartbroken to hear about Yolanda’s passing. I had the blessing of knowing her years ago as one of my fifth-grade students at Liberty Christian Academy in Shawnee. Even as a young girl, she carried herself with a quiet confidence—never the loudest in the room, but never afraid to stand up when it mattered. She was proud of her faith, and I could see even then the strength of her character.  Throughout the years, I can’t see The Rock without remembering  how much she liked him😁 - back when he was mostly a wrestler. It makes me smile to think of her as a child.  
I will always remember the joy I felt when I arrived at my sister-in-law’s home two decades later and saw her there, realizing with gratitude that we were now family.  
I admired the life she built. Yolanda was so happy in her marriage to Chris and was incredibly proud of her work as a makeup artist. She had a real gift, and people loved the way she made them feel beautiful. Even though I don’t usually wear makeup, just recently I was thinking I’d really like to let her “fix me up”.

Yolanda touched lives with her kindness, her faith, her artistry, and her joy. I will always remember her with admiration and gratitude.

Julia and Yolanda were in Liberty youth group when my husband and I were sponsors. They were both precious young ladies. We loved them both. Yolanda was so sweet to invite my dad, AJ, to her wedding, although we didn’t make it. I am so sad for your family, but know she is in heaven and I’ll see her there some day.

Yolanda was the first person that greeted me at Shawnee Fit Body and as I came every day she encouraged me in so many ways each day, she always left with a hug too. Her work with Switch at Life Church was invaluable and her love for God or being the hands and feet of Jesus to each individual youth there was a blessing. I will miss her shining beautiful smile and great love but I know she is in heaven enjoying praising God in person now. Oh my YoYo! Thank you for the countless laughs, the many karaoke sessions, and our talks. My mexi girl, my partner in crime. You have been with me through many many things in my life. I’m truly going to miss you!

I’ve sat down to write this countless times. How can this be? I’m humbly reminded that the Lord works in mysterious ways. It will always be the countless concerts, the wheezing laughs and me asking you “Yo, just spit it out already, what are you trying to say?” The money burnt up in gas for hours of driving and singing, the love we shared for animals and shamelessly stopping traffic for a turtle to safely get across the road, the hours you spent trying to teach me how to do makeup, the dinners, our weddings days and standing beside each other at each of them beaming from ear to ear. The North Carolina trip, you holding me in church when I was crying and you whispered, “That’s the holy spirit.” I got to witness you watch me become a mom and the love you had for Shelton like he was your own. The love and dedication we had for each other’s families. When we laughed that our bank accounts were empty but joke was on everyone else because so was the tomb of Jesus. My heart is broken. I find peace in knowing that you’re back with your mom. You better brace yourself now for the hug you will receive when I see you again. Prepare your poor back now. I love you most sis.

Yolanda will be missed beyond words, she radiated kindness and love. She was always friendly, smiling, and talking about her faith. I will miss the random talks in the break room, and the random waves in the hallway. I am praying for her entire family, and know she will never be forgotten!

Yolanda’s love and dedication to the Lord inspired so many, including myself. It still seems unreal and so unfair, but in the midst of human emotions, I trust in Gods sovereignty. I thank Him for the time we had and the privilege of knowing her. She was a beautiful, godly, lady inside and out.

Yolanda was always smiling and just super nice. i am glad i got to know her and be her friend.  Rest easy pretty lady.

Yo, I will never forget meeting you on our honeymoons. You were casually shopping for trinkets while I was floating by making fun of your OU shirt. Chris was running to your rescue when I finally said I’m just kidding I’m from Oklahoma too! I could not have been more thankful for you wearing that OU shirt and me having the privilege to call you a friend. I will miss you and your FB posts. Your love for the lord was like no other. Fly high sweet friend!

Yolanda, my boo, was truly one of the greatest friends to me during our time in cosmetology school. She always had a smile on her face and we shared some of the biggest laughs together. She will be missed by so many but I hope we all can remember what a gift she was to us while we had her. Sending love to her family during this difficult time.

To Chris Julia and family, our hearts are devastated by this tragedy!!! We loved her and you all!! ❤️❤️  she was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet! Her heart was as big as Texas and her love for God was immeasurable.  I hope knowing she is in the arms of Jesus and with her mom gives you all even a small piece of comfort. I pray Gods presence will surround you in this difficult time and you will feel his loving arms around you as you navigate the days weeks and months ahead🙏❤️🙏a precious soul gone too soon!!  The Bible says to be absent in body , is to be present with the Lord🙏 what a blessing in times of heartache 💔💔 we loved her and you all and wish so much we could be there, just know our love prayers and hugs go out to you all!! What a blessing she was & will continue to be for all of us who were  truly blessed to know her!

I’m so blessed to have known Yolanda! She was always making the special effort to come hug me & say how much she loved being with me at church & or ladies meetings. She was such a blessing to each of us & we loved her dearly. She will truly be missed at church & the ladies meetings in the days, weeks, months & years to come. She may be gone from this life but we will meet her again at the feet of Jesus!
