Mrs. Barbara Glenn Whitney, age 78, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 30, 2026, with her family by her side. Barbara was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on January 19, 1948, to the late Joseph Rountree and Fannie (Carter) Rountree. Barbara was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandma and Nana.
She enjoyed traveling in the fall, bunco, bingo, crafting and scrapbooking among other things. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Bryan Whitney, 6 brothers; Leon, Gerald, Dairl, Harold, Arnold, and Shelby Rountree; a sister, Maeola Miracle.
She leaves to cherish her memories with her husband, Billy Duncan Whitney, Jr., her daughter, Billie Jo Edwards, 2 grandchildren, Whitney McCubbins (Kendahl), Bryan Edwards, 3 Great-grandchildren A.J. DeVore, Annie DeVore, James DeVore along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear family and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Highway). A Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the chapel of the Funeral Home. There will be visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
