Brenda was a Baptist by faith and a member of Calvary Hill Separate Baptist Church. She loved the Lord deeply and felt that her week wasn’t complete unless she attended church. She also knew that there was a time for hymns on Sunday mornings but wasn’t opposed to rolling down the windows to blast “Old Time Rock N Roll”. To her both were ways to celebrate the gift of life.
She treasured quiet mornings at the lake and the warmth of a campsite, always finding joy beneath a canopy of beautiful clouds and endless blue skies. Great peace and solitude were found in the leafy branches and beauty of the shifting of colors with the changing of seasons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Carl Steve Broussard, daughter Patti Broussard, grandson, Steven Dunford, in-laws, Joseph and Paula Broussard, sisters, Betty Tarter, “Sissy” Linda Jackson.
To the world she was Brenda, but to her girls she was their safe place, greatest teacher, compass and their world. She showed them love through her endless generosity. Brenda took care of things that they weren’t ready to handle their biggest fan and rock when they needed her.
Her love and strength will continue to shine through her loving daughters, Mary “Betsy” Curtis, Louisa Dunford (Darryl), Crystal Broussard (Johnny); 26 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will take place at 12 noon on Monday, July 20, 2026, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mt. Holly Cemetery in Fairdale. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 3 pm till 8 pm and on Monday, from 10 am till time of service at 12 noon.
