Cecil Bryan, age 90 of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 26, 1936, Kevil, Kentucky to the late Flint and Lillie Bryan.
Cecil retired from Ford Motor Company, closing a long chapter of dedicated work and responsibility. He was a member of Robinson - Plum Lodge, and he also served as an active Kentucky Colonel for over 40 years—commitments that spoke to his loyalty, constancy, and respect for community and fellowship.
Over the years, Cecil enjoyed playing bingo, which reflected his easy appreciation for good company and familiar traditions. He especially cherished summer trips to the lake, where the season’s warmth and unhurried days offered the kind of peace he valued most. At home, he could often be found tending to the yard, taking satisfaction in cutting grass and keeping things cared for and in order.
Cecil will be remembered with deep respect for the steady, grounded way he lived, finding meaning in everyday routines, taking pride in showing up, and valuing the simple pleasures that brought people together.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Doris; his children, Pam Adams, Mark Bryan and Lisa Knight (Glenn), 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his brother Jim Bryan (Kay) along with a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Kevin Bryan.
Funeral service will take place at 10 am on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway, with burial to follow, at Bethany Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
