Cecil Shepherd

Cecil Thomas Shepherd, age 93 of Shepherdsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was born in Shepherdsville, Kentucky on December 17, 1932. Cecil lived a long and blessed life centered on faith, family, hard work and love. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, whose kindness and steady presence touched the lives of all who knew him.

Cecil was preceded in death by his father Walter Thomas Shepherd, mother, Mildred Bergen Troutman, stepfather, Joe Troutman, brother, Robert Shepherd, sister, Betty Howlett and son- in- law, Ruel Hardin.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Nora Mae Shepherd; his daughters, Kathy Hardin, Paula Clark (Jim); his son, Mark Shepherd; his grandchildren, Scott Sweat (Brandy), Will Price (Laura), Chris Sweat (Lindsey) Sarah Vogel (Jeremy) and Michael Spillane (Kayla); numerous cherished great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Cecil graduated from Shepherdsville High School in 1952, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of IBEW #369 for 73 years. He retired from International Harvester but continued to work as an electrician. He was the oldest member of Bullitt Lick Baptist Church and participated in several lay mission trips nationally and internationally.

Cecil will be deeply missed. His family and friends find comfort in the many memories they shared, and in the legacy of love, dedication and faith that he leaves behind.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Cecil’s life on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy.) in Shepherdsville. Visitation will be on Wednesday at 10 am till the time of funeral service at 12:30 pm, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington, Kentucky.
