Charles Richard Stephenson, “Chuck”, aged 61, passed away December 30, 2022 at his home in Shepherdsville, KY. Chuck’s life was filled with experiences and people that only he could tell in the most entertaining and poignant manner, and everyone who was lucky to hear him tell his stories were richer for it. The most defining moment in Chuck’s life was during his Navy career. On May 17, 1987, he was aboard the USS Stark when it was hit by a missile, killing 37 of his crewmates. He was a very proud Navy veteran and was always there if any of his Stark Brothers needed an ear. Chuck had numerous careers, but the one that seemed to make him happiest was being a truck driver for a number of years during the 2010’s. He had his own trucking company, which was named Stark Brothers, in honor of his naval family. Chuck is preceded in death by his mother, Alberta Kane Stephenson; his father James Richard Stephenson; and his nephew, Skylar King. Chuck is survived by his wife Carol, son James Richard Stephenson II (Katie), grandchildren James Stephenson, Lorelei Stephenson, and Samuel Stephenson; sister Deborah Fair; step children Eric Parks (Sarah), Rachel Parks (Morgan), Kurt Parks, Paige Parks, Alexander Parks, and Phillip Parks; niece Sydney King (Leron) and great niece Jewlyett King. Chuck was also the very proud "daddy" to dogs Liberty Belle and Independence Hall. No dogs have ever been more loved. Visitation will be 1-8 pm January 3, 2023 at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston at John Harper Hwy) with private burial will be at the Kentucky Veterans Central Cemetery. Funeral Mass will be January 4, 2023 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Shepherdsville, KY. Expressions of sympathy may be a donation to an organization that Chuck was fortunate to belong to and helped him during his illness, Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana.
