David M. Bishop

Mr. David M. Bishop, Sr., age 90, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 17, 2026, with his family by his side. David was born in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky, on July 30, 1935, to the late Fred Bishop and Sudie (Charlton) Bishop.

Upon graduating high school, he began work at General Electric’s Appliance Park as a maintenance man, retiring after 37 years. He was the ultimate handyman. He loved making things or repairing something broken.

His passion was real estate. While at G.E., he earned his real estate license. After retirement, he became a broker. Overall, he served his community for 54 years. He loved helping others get into the home of their dreams. There were occasions where he even built homes.

In his youthful years, loved spending time at the lake water skiing and camping with his family. He even took an old REL express truck, converting it into a custom-built camper. He always had a project in the works for family, friends or clients.

He and his wife Connie spent many years working with the children at Lebanon Junction First Baptist Church where he remains an honorary Deacon and attended for many years.

He followed the advice of British Prime Minister Margaret Thachter, “Plan your work…and work your plan.” Anyone who knew David knew he was a hard worker and a self-starter and loved the Lord. David will be truly missed by all who know and love him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son David Mitchell Bishop, Jr., brother William Bishop, sister Geraldine (Bishop) Bryant, and great-grandchild Ella Grace.

His memories will be cherished by his loving wife of 16 years Connie Sue Bishop, daughter Tamara Barton (Steve), daughter-in-law Rhonda Jo Bishop, step-daughter Amy Hall, step-son Jason Hall, eight grandchildren Michael Bishop (Elizabeth), Lindsay Beyer (William), Ashley Beams (Mike), Jacob Barton, Nathaniel Barton, Benjamin Barton, Courtney Hall (Michael), Gavin Hall, three great-grandchildren Ida Bishop, August Bishop, Caroline Beams, nephew Joe Mark Bishop (Virginia), niece Beverley Wentworth (Dan) and other dear family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 22 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Highway at John Harper Freeway). On July 23, additional visitation will be from 10am to noon. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lebanon Junction Cemetery.
